She was born in Chennai,Tamil Nadu to a North Indian family who had settled there four decades ago. Komal is the youngest among her four siblings. She pursued her Bachelors of Computer Applications from Sri Kanyaka Parameswari College for women, Chennai and grabbed her university proficiency.
