England team who performed exceptionally well against India in the test and one day series on their backyard will travel to India for five match ODI series and one off twenty20 internationals.

England tour will start with two tour games on 8th and 11th of October 2011. They will play first ODI at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on October 14th 2011. While 2nd, 3rd, 4th and final ODI’s will be played on 17th, 20th, 23rd and 25th of October 2011 at Delhi, Mohali, Mumbai and Kolkata.


Kolkata will also host only twenty20 internationals to be played between India and England on October 29th 2011.

Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who passed away on September 22 aged 70, was one of India’s most charismatic cricketers of all time.

Leading India barely at the age of 21, he remains India’s youngest ever as well as one of the greatest ever to captain India. He led India in 40 Tests out of 46 he played for the country. Though under him India were able to register only 9 wins, he was India’s first captain who instilled a feeling of self-belief into the team.

New Delhi, Sept 22 A royal era of Indian cricket came to an end on Thursday when the nation’s first superstar cricketer and youngest captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi passed away in New Delhi after battling lung infection for a month.He was 70 and is survived by wife, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, and three children – daughters Sohaand Saba and son Saif.

Pataudi was admitted at the Sir Gangaram Hospital here earlier this month and was in the intensive care unit (ICU).

IPL 4: Malinga most valuable, Valthaty best bargain

Lasith Malinga is the most valuable player (MVP) of IPL 4 so far, beating emerging star Paul Valthaty to second place by just a bit.

When it comes to value for money (VFM), however, the Malayali from Mumbai who's making waves for Kings XI Punjab is streets ahead of all competition.

Behind Malinga and Valthaty in the MVP list are Johan Botha, Robin Uthappa and Doug Bollinger. Sachin Tendulkar heads the second half of the top 10 with Virat Kohli, Kumar Sangakkara, Yusuf Pathan and Jesse Ryder rounding it off.

None of these names, apart of course from Valthaty, makes it anywhere close to the top 10 in the VFM list. That's not surprising given that most of them count their annual fees in millions of dollars while uncapped Indian players like the Kings XI opener have to make do with a maximum of $50,000.

The others on the VFM list are, therefore, predictably local players who have more than pulled their weight for their squads. At No. 2 is Rahul Sharma, followed by Ambati Rayudu, Iqbal Abdulla and Sunny Sohal, in that order. The second half of the top 10 consists of Siddharth Trivedi, Ashok Menaria, Amit Singh, M S Bisla and A G Murtaza.

How have we arrived at these names? A fair bit of number crunching went into it, involving assigning points for batting, bowling, fielding and captaincy on the basis of objective parameters, not subjective opinion, to construct an MVP index.

Sourav Ganguly to join Pune Warriors India

New Delhi, (PTI): After going unsold in the players' auction, former India captain Sourav Ganguly made a dramatic return to the Indian Premier League by signing up for struggling franchise Pune Warriors as replacement for injured pacer Ashish Nehra.
