Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi Had Donated His One Good Eye

Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi is no more but eye will continue to live. Dr Sumit Ray, vice-chairman, critical care medicine at Sir Ganga Ram hospital has confirmed this that the legendary cricketer has donated his eye. Pataudi has taken his last breath at the Sir Ganga Ram hospital.

Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s right eye was damaged permanently in a car accident but left eye was okay. So with the family’s consent his left eye is preserved in the hospital’s eye bank.

“Pataudi had expressed his desire to donate the eye about a week ago when he was fully conscious. On Thursday morning, his wife Sharmila Tagore informed us about it. Accordingly, the family’s consent was taken and after his death the organ was retrieved,”

Dr Sumit Ray, vice-chairman, critical care medicine at Sir Ganga Ram hospital said:

”His eye was fully functional and it can be transplanted,”

Former cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi (Father of Saif Ali Khan) passes away in a Delhi hospital on Thursday. He was 70 and is survived by his wife, actress Sharmila Tagore, daughters Soha, Saba and son Saif.

Legendary Indian cricketer & youngest captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi passed away on 22nd September 2011 due to lung infection. Mr. Khan died after battling a lung infection for about a month. The burial of Mr. Khan will take place at Pataudi village in Gurgaon today on 2.15 pm.

Pataudi was regarded as one of the finest Indian captains. He played 46 Tests for the country, scoring 2,793 runs for an average of 34.91 with an unbeaten 203 being his highest score.

One of India's greatest cricket captains, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi passed away at Sir Ganga Ram hospital, Delhi on Thursday.

Pataudi's burial will take place at Pataudi village in Gurgaon district on Friday afternoon.

New Delhi, Sept 22 A royal era of Indian cricket came to an end on Thursday when the nation’s first superstar cricketer and youngest captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi passed away in New Delhi after battling lung infection for a month.He was 70 and is survived by wife, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, and three children – daughters Sohaand Saba and son Saif.

Pataudi was admitted at the Sir Gangaram Hospital here earlier this month and was in the intensive care unit (ICU).
