A case of assault has been registered against actor Saif Ali Khan on the basis of a complaint filed by a man Iqbal Sharma who accused Khan and his aides of breaking his nose after a scuffle inside the Taj Hotel last night. The Mumbai police will question Khan for the alleged assault and decide whether to arrest him depending on what comes out in the probe.

Khan was said to be accompanied by his girlfriend and actress Kareena Kapoor at the time of the incident. Kareena's statement will also be recorded. The actor and his friends have been booked under IPC 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

The victim claimed that he was having dinner with his family members at the Wasabi restaurant in the Taj Hotel in Colaba last night, while the actor and his friends were sitting at the next table, police said. Case against Saif for punching man in restaurant
