London: Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, has shelved plans to hire a housekeeper as she has reportedly decided to do household chores with husband Prince William.
The 29-year-old Kate has asked royal aides not to find them help at their Kensington Palace apartment even though an advertisement was placed, says the Daily Express.
Aides said the couple were "sensitive" to economic difficulties in the country.
Their private secretary, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, said: "It's the first time I have worked for a lady so we are still working out what structures and infrastructures are needed."
"The post of housekeeper-dresser is being put on hold because we don't think there is a requirement for it, given that the couple are living a farmhouse lifestyle."
William, 28, and his wife plan to spend most of their time living as an ordinary couple close to Royal Air Force Valley in Anglesey, North Wales, where the second-in-line to the throne works as a search and rescue helicopter pilot.
They have no live-in domestic help at the farmhouse, but they employ a part-time cleaner.
