Though present in India for less than a year now, the Yeti has proved its tremendous potential both as a serious off-roader and a reliable tarmac performer on Indian roads. The tried and tested SUV offering from Czech car maker Skoda went on sale internationally in 2009, and since then has seen great success in the global markets, having now sold over 100,000 units in its short tenure.
Sales of the Yeti have been quite consistent since being introduced, and have risen 34% in the first four months of the ongoing year. In 2010, Skoda delivered 52,600 Yetis to customers worldwide, which have now doubled, giving the Skoda Yeti its milestone sales figure of 100,000 in June this year.
The 100,000th Yeti was put together at the Czech plant Kvasiny on the 2nd of June 2011, which is where all the Yeti models for the UK market are built. In India, production of the Yeti has also been taking place in the Indian city of Aurangabad since 2010. Apart from Czech Republic, India and Russia Skoda has also now decided to produce the Yeti in China from 2013, thus ensuring its steady expansion into Asian markets.
