Dad kills 20-yr-old for talking to boyfriend on cellphone | Girl killed for talking to boyfrinend on mobile

NAWADA: In yet another gory instance of honour killing, a quack strangled his 20-year-old daughter to death, doused the body with kerosene and burned it before burying it in a pit after he caught her red-handed talking to her boyfriend on cellphone, at Kutri village under the Nawada district's Warisaliganj police station area on May 7.

Police said Archana Singh, a BA part II student, was having an affair with classmate Suman Singh ever since the two studied in Intermediate at SN Sinha College. Belonging to same caste, they wanted to tie the knot but the girl's father was opposed to it as he thought the boy's family was inferior to his. The boy's father, Nand Lal Singh, has retired as a head electrician of the state power board.

The girl's boyfriend has her heart-rending screams recorded on his cellphone. However, he could not muster the courage to approach police.

The killing came to light on Thursday after the girl's father, accompanied by fellow villagers, made an abortive bid to kill the boy at his residence at Mularchak, 100 metres from the Warisaliganj ps, on Wednesday evening. "If I could kill my 'own flesh and blood', I would not spare you as well," Ashok Singh was quoted as having shouted outside the boy's house. However, he and his men ran away after the boy's father fired two rounds in the air from his licensed gun to save his son's life.

Suman lodged an FIR on Thursday. A Warisaliganj police officer Suresh Singh told TOI on Friday that following an anonymous phone call that a girl was being burned around 10pm on May 7, he along with forces had gone to the village around 11pm. They, however, returned empty-handed as they could not locate the place.

"Police are investigating the murky episode," Nawada SP Pankaj Kumar Raj said.

In January this year, a primary health centre employee Ranjit Goswami, who had married a girl belonging to another religion, was killed by his in-laws in a locality under the Nawada police station area.
