Summer has just got hotter and this is the perfect time to bring out those dresses which had been languishing in your wardrobe. While choosing a dress, it is important to be the body type and cuts in mind. Most of us don’t have a perfect body. However, it is not impossible to create the illusion of a perfect body by choosing the right dresses and create the appearance of perfect proportions.  The trick is to change your perceived shape to the perfect shape. Fashion designer, Saloni Lodha tells us how to dress right.


Hourglass: If your figure is anything closer to an hourglass, then you probably don’t have to worry much. You most likely have a balanced body vertical body shape and since hip-line and bust-line are the same width and your waist is well defined. So 1950s inspired silhouettes will work well on your body.

Apple: If you have undefined waist and high stomach, then your body shape is mostly apple. The main aim is to create an illusion of longer upper body and floaty summer dress work just right and creates the illusion of an inverted triangle.

Pear: If your bust-line is proportionally narrower than your hip-line and you have a well defined waist. If your bottom is well rounded, you probably have a pear shaped body. Your main aim is to balance your bottom half by creating the appearance of a wider upper body. So dresses which emphasizes on your bust will create a balance. Go for dresses that are straight or slightly flared

Stick: If your full bust-line and full hip-line are about the same width and you have little waist definition, then you probably resemble a stick. You have to add curves by define your waist and shoulders. Dresses that wrap or flow through the waistline with medium to high necklines will help bring out the curves.

You can never go wrong with a maxidress: This one piece of clothing is here to stay. It can be dressed up or down with the right shoes and accessories.  So go for a maxi dress in bold colours and make a statement!
